A new article’s come out with a little bit more info on Lucy’s upcoming country album. Looks like it’s set to be released this summer!

Lucy Hale may famous because of Pretty Little Liars, but the 23-year-old starlet is going back to roots.

She’s hard at working on her debut country music album.
That’s right, country music!

“I’m from Tennessee,” Hale told me at the American Music Awards. “My mom lives in Nashville. I’m born and bred country. That’s all I listen, too.”

Hollywood Records is set to drop her album next summer.

And guess who she’s been cowriting some of the three dozen songs she’s already stockpiled? Sugarland’s Kristian Bush!

“He said, ‘You sure u want to do this? You’re going to be put through the ringer,’” Hale said. “But I was like, ‘I’m ready!’”

Hale knows she’s got some work to do before she’s headlining at the Grand Ole Opry.
“I have a long way to go and I have a lot to prove,” she said. “But I’m really excited.”

And so are we.

Ne-Yo, Neon Trees, Nicole Richie, Lucy Hale, Jesse Williams, Heather Morris, Anthony Anderson, James Maslow, Carlos Pena Jr, Victoria Justice and the cast of See Dad Run were among the celebs who took to the Hollywood Palladium stage to join host Nick Cannon in honoring five extraordinary teens for the 2012 TeenNick HALO Awards live event. The fourth annual TeenNick HALO Awards was held today and will air as a 90-minute special premiering Monday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), on Nick at Nite, with an encore Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10 p.m. (ET) on TeenNick. Conceived, hosted and executive-produced by Cannon, the awards show recognizes and celebrates real teens who are “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO).

During the star-studded evening, Neon Trees rocked the stage with their hit single “Everybody Talks” and Ne-Yo had the crowd singing along to “Let Me Love You.” In a surprise moment onstage, Richie awarded 18-year-old Raymone George with a HALO Award in recognition of his work as a mentor and coach to a youth dance troupe. Ne-Yo, who is performing at MTV’s New Year’s Eve special, also invited George to be his VIP guest for the day. George and the four existing teen honorees each received a baton-shaped HALO Award and scholarship fund from superstar presenters including Richie (The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation), Hale (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Operation Smile), Morris (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Anderson (F.A.C.E Diabetes) and former school teacher Williams (supports education) along with other surprises.

Previously announced HALO Award honorees – Allyson Ahlstrom, Matt Ferguson, Kylie Lan Tumiatti and Taylor Waters – were surprised by a visit from Cannon, awarded a grant for their cause and given an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and connect with a mega-celebrity who shares a similar passion for their cause. Their celebrity matches are Tyra Banks, Emma Stone, Justin Bieber and Josh Duhamel, respectively, and their taped segments will be featured in the show.

Presenting sponsors of the fourth annual TeenNick HALO Awards are Chevrolet, COVERGIRL, Reese’s Puffs® cereal and Target. During the live taping, each sponsor surprised their respective teen HALO Award honorees with the following:
Chevrolet provided funding for gas and lodging for Ahlstrom as she takes her Threads for Teens boutique on the road this summer, traveling to 48 states with the goal of outfitting a total of 1,000 girls.

“Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale is expanding her horizons beyond her successful acting career and spreading her wings to (hopefully) soar into an equally successful music career.

The multitalented 23-year-old recently inked a recording deal with Hollywood Records, which is the same label that brought us the chart-topping vocal stylings of Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.

MTV News was lucky enough to sit down with Hale recently for an exclusive chat about how she came to land a recording contract with Hollywood Records and what plans she has for her first album.

“Some people know, some people don’t know: I grew up performing, I grew up singing, and I never knew which route I was going to take,” said Hale, who first showcased her singing skills on the talent competition “American Juniors” in 2003. “Acting took off for a while and I booked ['Pretty Little Liars'], and I did a movie last year, ‘Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song,’ and I played a singer, and so that’s sort of how Hollywood [Records heard me].”

Hale then landed a meeting with Hollywood Records head Ken Bunt, who was eager to work with her and wanted to make the music Hale was most passionate about.

“I told him [I wanted to sing] country, so I’m going to do a country/pop album, and I couldn’t be more excited,” she said. “I grew up in Tennessee, so that’s always been my heart and soul. It’s hard to come across a true country fan in L.A., but it’s true that the fans are so loyal, once you’re in their circle, you’re in for your entire career. It just really speaks to me. Country music has so much soul and is so heartfelt. I think it’s a perfect fit for me. I think it will surprise people.”

So which country singers does Hale look to for inspiration?

“I love all [kinds of country artists], but comparing what my sound would be like? A Taylor Swift/ Carrie Underwood-ish hybrid? Obviously, I would kill to have their music careers,” she said. “I’m not saying I will have that career, but sound-wise, I would say it’s closest to that.”

Look for Hale’s first country album to hit the airwaves sometime next year.

An In-Depth Conversation With the Cast of ‘Pretty Little Liars’
March 12th, 2012 || By Natasha Vargas-Cooper

Whoever said the heart is deceitful above all things never met the cast of ‘Pretty Little Liars’—Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, and Sasha Pieterse—whose weekly misadventures make the actual high school experience look like a walk in the park.

Murder, infidelity, girl-on-girl make-out sessions, Machiavellian power moves, teacher-student love affairs, and downright addictive drama have manifested themselves in the unlikeliest of places: ABC Family. The network’s hour-long dramatic thriller, Pretty Little Liars (which was recently renewed for a third season), follows the clandestine lives of four teenage girls whose bond is tested when their tyrannical leader, Alison (16-year-old Sasha Pieterse), goes missing.

Together, the remaining girls—Aria (Lucy Hale, 22); Emily (Shay Mitchell, 24), Hanna (Ashley Benson, 22), and Spencer (Troian Bellisario, 26)—struggle to solve the presumed murder of their friend, all the while receiving threatening texts from “A,” an anonymous sender. Is it Alison’s killer? Could it be Alison herself?

Pretty Little Liars might seem like a younger Gossip Girl, or a less affected Revenge—but it’s tackled serious issues and taken on adult themes with surprising grace. On a warm Los Angeles afternoon, we sat down with four of the series’ bright young things to talk about the turbulent, lavender haze of adolescence—on-screen and off.

BULLETT: What sort of things did you lie about as a teenager?
LUCY HALE:
I definitely used to lie about my age. I’m from Tennessee and everyone would vacation in Destin, Florida, where there are lots of cute guys. I would go with my older sister and lie about my age to them.

I know this isn’t directly Lucy related, but ABC Family offered me the chance to join in on an interview with Tyler Blackburn a few days ago, and I thought you guys might be interested in the interview. He talks about Lucy a little bit during the interview. Tyler’s really nice, and so humble! Click on read more to read the whole thing.

Moderator: You’re a series regular now on PLL. How does that make you feel?

Tyler: I am very, very excited. I just loved every minute of working on the show, so the fact that I can work on it more and more, it’s such a good feeling. I am over the moon.

Moderator: Do you happen to know who A is yet?

Tyler: Well, obviously I can’t say a whole lot about that, but I can tell you that by the end of this season A will be revealed. So yes, I do know. I do know, but I can’t give any hints or anything.

Moderator: What was it about the show that piqued your interest to want to be a part of it?

Tyler: Well, when I first auditioned and I got the sides for Caleb, I just thought he was a great character. I got some backstory about Hanna’s character and she was sort of a spitfire, and I just felt like Caleb was able to keep up, and I liked that. But, it’s funny, when I saw a big billboard for the show—I think right before it came out—and it looked sort of edgy and it was, like four beautiful girls, and I was like, “I could totally be on that show.” So then I got the audition, and I was like, “Wow, this is very fortuitous.” And I auditioned, and I just felt like it was a good place for me. So it all worked out really great.
